Dragon pride filled Camptown Event Center on Friday evening as more than 250 alumni, educators, business leaders, and community supporters gathered for the USD 250 Foundation’s 5th Annual Night of Dragons fundraiser — the largest and most successful yet.
Long tables of silent auction baskets donated by numerous local businesses and individuals, as well as live auction items donated by corporate sponsors, demonstrated the widespread support for students and teachers in the district.

This year’s event raised more than $100,000.
Foundation Board President Jon Bartlow, who served as emcee, reminded attendees of the purpose behind the celebration.
“At the core of our mission, and why we are here tonight, is to grow our ability to provide scholarships for students who are planning to continue their education in some form — whether it be a trade school, community college, or four-year institution. Our young people continuing their education will benefit us all by ensuring they are equipped to make a difference wherever they may land,” Bartlow said.
Last year, the Foundation awarded $142,000 to 74 graduating seniors. Scholarship applications are being reviewed and will be awarded in April.
Funding also helps support innovative teacher grants. This year, the Foundation awarded $24,500 in grants to teachers representing every school.

Bartlow expressed gratitude for the event’s exceptional community support.
“We had more sponsors and silent auction donations than ever before, which is a wonderful testament to the value that people in this community place on education,” Bartlow added.
